David Smith: Forgings
Gagosian Gallery, 980 Madison Avenue, New York
October 29, 2013-December 21, 2013

It is a drawing line really. I would never have done that if I hadn't been interested in drawing lines....
-David Smith

Gagosian Gallery and the Estate of David Smith are pleased to announce an exhibition of David Smith's Forgings, a groundbreaking series of forged steel vertical sculptures completed in 1955 and 1956. This is the first time that all ten Forgings from 1955 will be on view together since their introduction at the Willard Gallery in 1956.

A fully illustrated catalogue accompanies the exhibition, with an essay written by Hal Foster. Please see the Gagosian Gallery website for additional information.
